‘I was thrown back into the nightmare’ – father of Irish-Israeli hostage

The father of an Irish-Israeli girl thought to be dead after Hamas attacked Israel has said he’s been “thrown back into the nightmare” after being told his daughter Emily may still be alive.

Tom Hand was initially informed that Emily was among a group of people killed by Hamas on 7 October in an attack on Kibbutz Be’eri, about three miles from Gaza.

It’s now believed that the nine-year-old could be a hostage of Hamas in Gaza.
